MyClearCost is a free site for people in the United States who need a straight monthly number: take-home pay after tax, a housing payment that includes escrow, a car loan after sales tax, or a payoff date on revolving debt.
Too many “calculators” stop at principal and interest, or at a federal tax table with no state. American households also pay property tax, homeowners insurance, PMI, HOA dues, state wage tax or sales tax, FICA, and employer 401(k) match rules. We put those inputs on the first screen and the result in large type so you do not have to hunt.
Who runs this site
MyClearCost is independently published in the United States. It is not a bank, mortgage broker, auto dealer, payroll company, or registered investment adviser. We do not sell loans, insurance, or credit cards. We do not collect credit reports or require an account. The tools run in your browser; the figures you type are not stored on a server we control.
We would rather publish a labeled estimate with the formula in the open than a glossy number that hides escrow, FICA, or sales tax. If a result looks wrong, write us from the contact page with the calculator name and the inputs you used. Corrections are part of the job, not a footnote.
What we are not
- Not a lender, broker, or credit union. Nothing here is a quote, pre-approval, or rate lock.
- Not a tax preparer. Paycheck results omit credits, local taxes, and a full Form W-4.
- Not a registered investment adviser. Retirement and FIRE charts assume smooth returns that real markets do not deliver.
- Not legal advice. PMI cancellation, escrow shortages, and card agreements follow your contract and federal rules, not a web form.
Read the disclaimer before you sign anything. Compare every result with your pay stub, Loan Estimate, or card statement.
Corrections
If a formula or a 2026 tax constant is wrong, we want the email. Describe the page, the inputs, and the number you expected. We will change the tool when the math is wrong — not when a result is merely disappointing. Guides are dated. When IRS or SSA figures move, the paycheck constants should move with them; statewide tax shortcuts may lag.
How we work
Formulas are standard amortization, IRS inflation-adjusted brackets for tax year 2026, Social Security and Medicare wage rules, and statewide typical tax rates you can override. The exact steps live on the how we calculate page. Guides next to each tool explain the vocabulary (PITI, FICA, avalanche) in ordinary English.
We do not copy other calculator sites. Articles are written for this site. When we cite a public rule — a standard deduction, a PMI termination threshold, a Social Security wage base — we point to the kind of source a reader can check (IRS revenue procedures, SSA, CFPB, Homeowners Protection Act summaries).
How the site stays free
MyClearCost is free to use. We may display clearly labeled advertising from Google AdSense so the calculators and guides can remain free. Ads never change a formula, a default, or a result. We do not write lender “reviews” in exchange for a referral, and we do not sell your calculator inputs — those numbers stay on your device.
If ads appear, they will be marked as advertising. You can read how cookies and partners work in the Privacy Policy. Questions about a page or a number still go to the same inbox: we answer people, not ad networks, about the math.
